POWERful Women issues Call to Action

 

To mark 10 years of championing women, POWERful Women has issued a call to action to accelerate the pace of change towards a gender-balanced energy sector that is fit for the energy transition.

In a new manifesto to reach PfW’s target of 40% by 2030 and beyond, PfW has set out THREE KEY ACTIONS that can make change happen within companies.

  1. Set a BOLD AMBITION FOR 2030 that encourages your organisation to aim high, aligned with PfW’s 40% by 2030 target.
  2. Create an ACTIONABLE STRATEGY, ensuring your approach to talent supports your business strategy.
  3. Employ CRITICAL ENABLERS, including gathering and reporting comprehensive diversity data, and employing effective feedback loops.

The manifesto also includes suggestions for concrete, game-changing policies and initiatives that we know make a difference to diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.

Organisations are encouraged to sign up to the three key actions and to explore the range of policies and initiatives that could help them reach their own targets on gender diversity, equity and inclusion.

PfW also suggests actions that investors, government, the regulators and allies can pledge to take.

Since PfW was founded in 2014:

  • the representation of women at board and executive board director level has more than tripled; and
  • women are now in 34% of leadership and 32% of middle management roles in UK energy companies.

But progress is stalling. The pace of change must be accelerated to meet PfW’s target of at least 40% of leadership and middle management roles in the UK energy sector to be held by women by 2030.
