In 2015 in collaboration with PwC we published ‘Igniting change – Building the pipeline of female leaders in energy’.


This eye-opening research highlighted that only 5% of executive board seats within the top UK-based energy companies are held by women, whilst 61% have no women on their board.


Our target is 40% of middle management, and 30% of executive board positions, to be female by 2030. We will deliver these in 3 ways:

Supporting women in their careers
Sign-posting practical support to increase diversity
The government is working on this and PfW supports several initiatives:
The government is working in this, encouraging more women on boards and in the executive pipeline, in addition to closing the gender pay gap.  The department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has committed to having 50% women in senior civil service positions by 2025 and are a key partner of POWERful Women.
