‘Achieving a step change in gender equality for a successful energy transition’

We will be holding an event at the international climate talks (11-22 November, Baku) once again, in partnership with the UK government delegation.

The panel event will take place on the morning of Energy Transition Day, Thursday 14th November, and we have a great line-up of speakers from government, business and NGOs.

Keynote:

  • The Right Hon Anneliese Dodds MP, Minister of State (Development), and Minister of State (Minister for Women and Equalities)

Panel:

  • Sophie Westlake, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero
  • Evangelos Pastras, Commonwealth Secretariat Energy Transition Youth Action Group
  • Nick Wayth, CEO of the Energy Institute and Board Member of PfW
  • Chair: Debbie Palmer, Director, Energy Climate Environment Directorate, FCDO
  • Rachel  McEwen, Chief Sustainability Officer, SSE

The UN recognises that for a sustainable energy future, gender (SDG5) and energy (SDG7) need to be integrated – but how?  The event ‘Achieving a step change in gender equality for a successful energy transition’, talks to leaders to drive the case for change; to develop a leadership pipeline to embed equality at pace; and to showcase and create opportunities for women to build sustainable careers in energy, with actionable takeaways.

If you are attending COP29 (Blue Zone accreditation required), come along!

If not, please share the event details with colleagues and your network and join us to watch the livestream!

LIVESTREAM:

9.30am-10.30 (Baku time); 6.30am-7.30am (UK time); recording available afterwards.
