Nick Wayth joins the POWERful Women Board

We are delighted to welcome Dr Nick Wayth CEng MIMechE FEI, the recently-appointed Chief Executive of the Energy Institute, to the Board of POWERful Women.

Nick joined the EI in May, following the departure of Louise Kingham OBE FEI. The Energy Institute is a valued partner to POWERful Women and provides the Secretariat.

Formerly Chief Development Officer of Alternative Energy at BP, Nick is passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment for working parents and carers and was the executive sponsor for an active resource group at BP’s St James’s Square office.

Nick says; “Improving the representation of women across the UK energy sector is not only the right thing to do, it’s also business and net zero critical.  Without all available talent and diverse perspectives, we simply won’t succeed in the urgent challenges the energy transition presents.

While some organisations are making great strides, the recently-published board statistics show that more must be done to accelerate the overall pace of change on gender diversity and inclusion.  Through the leadership provided by POWERful Women, I look forward to helping bring that about.”

Nick will also be POWERful Women’s representative on the Energy Leaders’ Coalition, a group comprising the heads of 15 of the leading companies in the UK’s energy sector, who have made a public declaration to improve gender diversity in their companies and in the sector as a whole. Find out more about the ELC here.

We look forward to working with Nick to support our mission to increase the representation of women at the top of the UK energy sector.
