Our Annual Conference is the forum for UK energy companies – their leaders, managers and D&I professionals – to engage with peers, specialists and women working in the industry, to discuss the gender diversity and inclusion issues of the day and how to make better, faster progress.
This year’s topic followed the release of our annual statistics on women in UK energy in May, which revealed that while women are gradually progressing in the pipeline, roles at the top remain male-dominated. Women in middle management also continue to experience career barriers. The conference will identify practical ways forward to accelerate the journey to a diverse, inclusive gender-balanced energy industry so that the sector has the talent required for the transition to net zero.
We will also ran our interactive DEI workshops in the afternoon, on a selection of D&I topics as chosen by our network. There were also usual valuable networking opportunities over coffee, lunch and a drinks reception.
We look forward to seeing you next November!
A message to our male allies:
At POWERful Women we strive to not only have diverse workforces, but also diverse attendance at our events.
Hear what some of our previous male attendees had to say about the 2022 Conference:
“The appeal of the conference was multi-faceted. First the extensive range of speakers and panels was very good and stimulating. The ‘lived experience’ often shared through these sessions were thought provoking and educational. Secondly the breakout groups offered the opportunity to talk with my peers from industry on their initiatives, progress and challenges and it was this that I found particularly useful.”
– Paul Morton, Nuclear Decommissioning Director, EDF
“I was blown away by my experience at the POWERful conference in 2022. I listened to inspirational panellists talking about real life experiences and passing on amazing advice. I learned how other industries have managed to overcome some of the challenges my industry still faces. I was able to network with like minded passionate professionals. The workshops were expertly focused on meaningful topics and the conversations created were fascinating. I highly recommend the conference and especially so for men who are looking to improve their allyship.”
